How Express Entry Works?

This procedure enables the government to pick the best candidates instead of just selecting someone next in line. If you don’t have a valid job offer, you can connect with a Canadian employer by registering at the Canadian Government Job bank.

Candidates that meet the required criteria after considering several parameters, including job offer, language skill, work experience, etc., will be invited for permanent residency application. This will be done via an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

Candidates who have received this invitation are to complete their online application within 60 days. Intending immigrants can submit through one of the Canada Express Streams, including the Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades Program(FSTP).

The applications of most candidates will be fast-tracked through CIC, they are expected to be finalized within six months.

To become a permanent Canadian residence through the Federal Skilled Worker Program, you must have satisfied the specified requirements for education, work experience, and language ability. A candidate must have worked full-time for a year or equivalent part-time within the last 10 years. Also, applicants must have completed a diploma or degree, or have attended a Canadian Secondary school to qualify. For language, the candidate must be able to show evidence of Canadian Language Benchmark 7 obtained within two years.

Candidates applying under this stream must satisfy the minimum language ability and work experience requirements. The language requirement includes a Canadian Language Benchmark 4 for reading and writing, and a Canadian Benchmark 5 for speaking and listening, which is lower than that of the Federal Skilled Worker. Also, the candidate must have worked full-time for two years or equivalent part-time within the last five years.
Furthermore, applicants must be certified in their trade by territorial authority or Canadian provinces, or have full-time employment for at least one year.

To qualify for the Canada Experience Class, you must meet the minimum language and work experience requirements. For NOC O or A job, the minimum language requirement is the Canadian Language Benchmark 7, while NOC B jobs require a Canadian Language Benchmark 5. Furthermore, applicants must have at least 12 months’ experience working full-time or equivalent part-time within the last three years. This work must satisfy the National Occupation Classification requirements, including technical jobs or skilled trades (NOC Skill Type B), managerial jobs (NOC Skill level 0), and professional jobs (NOC Skill Type A).

What is the average processing time for Express Entry?

The average time it takes from the time of submission of express entry profile to the award of a permanent residence visa is about six months. Note that the processing time may vary from one individual to the other; this may be due to several factors, including incomplete data, and the likes. Your express entry profile will remain functional for 12 months; you can resubmit your application if you have not been selected within this period. This will keep your profile active and boost your chances of being selected.

How much proof of funds I need?

You must have a written proof that you are financially capable to take care of yourself and the family member coming with you via the Canadian Express Entry program. Here are the required funds (CAD)per family members:
