The minimum work experience requirement for renewed categories increased from six months to one year. Cooks no longer qualify under the trade occupations category. These small changes matter. A profile that qualified last year might not qualify today, so it pays to check your eligibility before you submit.
French-speaking candidates continue to see strong results in 2026. IRCC has held several French-language draws this year, often at CRS cut-offs well below general draws. If you speak French at a functional level, this route deserves a serious look, even if English is your first language.
